San Gervasio
The archaeological site of “San Gervasio” is the most important and well studied prehispanic site of all the documented settlements in Cozumel Island. It is named after its location in the former “San Gervasio” ranch.
Cozumel Museum
The museum dates back to the 30s, it was originally one of the first hotels on the island. It offers four permanent exhibits that give you an insight into local geography, ecosystems, history, and culture.
Cozumel is the largest inhabited island in the Mexican Caribbean and the first spot to receive the sun rays along Mexico. Its inhabitants are jealous guardians of their traditions as the heritage of the great Mayan culture.

It is known as the” Island of the Swallows” which’s name derivates from the Mayan words “cuzam” that means swallow, and “humil” that means “land of”, forming the word “Cuzamil”. As the first catholic mass in Mexican land was officiated right here, this relevant event is part of the fascinating history of Cozumel who also features Mayan archaeological sites such as the”San Gervasio“structures.
Cozumel is internationally recognized as a scuba diving paradise due to its location; facing the second world’s largest reef barrier and with turquoise blue water which allows the experience of being in contact with a striking marine spectacle.
